Autochthonous chikungunya (CHIK) was diagnosed for the first time in New York State;  since January 2025, 445,000 suspected and confirmed CHIK cases have been reported across 40 countries. Two cases of Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) were reported in Wang Pong District, Phetchabun Province in Thailand. The number of Rift Valley Fever (RVF) cases in Senegal has now expanded to 196 cases and 21 deaths (see ViVa 22). Mpox continues in Uganda with 6,894 cases, in Sierra Leone with 5405 and in Guinea with 1051 confirmed cases to date, linked to clade 2b. The good news: no new cases have been reported in the last 16 days (to 19 Oct) for the Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (a total of 64 cases reported). A new emergence of cVDPV1 was confirmed in Savannakhet Province, Laos.
