Launch of the European Vaccines Hub for Pandemic Readiness          

The European Vaccines Hub for Pandemic Readiness (EVH) is a newly established, EU-funded public-private partnership led by the Sclavo Vaccines Association (Siena, Italy), pooling 11 major beneficiaries and 13 affiliated entities from seven countries, including Germany’s DZIF. Co-funded by the EU4Health programme with €102 million (total €170 million over four years), EVH’s mission is to build sustainable capacity for rapid vaccine development and production relevant to pandemic threats, in line with the latest WHO Pathogen Prioritization. EVH structures its activities around four core pillars, each coordinated by an expert institution: Platform technologies for vaccine and monoclonal antibody development (Fondazione Biotecnopolo di Siena, Italy) Preclinical studies (Institut Pasteur, France) Clinical trials (Vaccinopolis, University of Antwerp, Belgium) Manufacturing and regulation (DZIF, Germany) Key objectives include: Coordinated development of “pandemic prototype” vaccines using harmonized, scalable technologies Acceleration of discovery, preclinical, and clinical activities leading to rapid candidate selection in emerging pandemics Integration of translational research, GMP manufacturing, and regulatory expertise to streamline...
