1. Nosocomial “SFTS” cluster shows Dabie bandavirus can spread hospital-to-hospital-bed—no ticks required, and one case had no direct contact at all. Summary: This multidisciplinary investigation (Zhejiang, China, May–June 2023) examined a nosocomial Dabie bandavirus (DBV) cluster involving six laboratory-confirmed cases: one index patient and five secondary infections (four healthcare workers and one co-hospitalized patient). Methods integrated contact tracing, dynamic biomarker monitoring, viral isolation, microneutralization assays, and whole-genome sequencing. The index patient died on day 6. Four healthcare workers recovered after PPE gaps (specifically, the absence of eye protection or goggles). A fifth patient (S5), who had no direct contact with the index case, developed an infection after sharing the same ward for three days. Phylogenetic analysis placed all three sequenced strains (Index, S4, and S5) in Clade II with 100% bootstrap support, confirming a common source.
